Bolton Wanderers vs Liverpool Preview

Bolton Wanderers vs Liverpool Preview

The Reds will be hoping for safe passage into to next round of the F.A. Cup away at a resilient Bolton Wanderers side.

While playing okay in the last game Liverpool will be very frustrated they couldn’t progress in the home tie. They face a tricky away trip against a Bolton side who will want to bounce back after 3 games without a win.

It’s hard to know what to say now that won’t be repeating myself. So … This game is not at Anfield.

Liverpool will be looking to carry on their impressive defensive record of late as they have only conceded four goals in the last seven games, with three of those coming against Chelsea.  They are looking far more solid and will hope this continues.

Despite not shipping any goals against Liverpool, Bolton have shipped six in the last two games and Liverpool’s resurgent attack may feel confident in breaking down Bolton’s defence this time around.

Bolton’s goalkeeper played extremely well last time and you would think they will need a similarly good performance this time around. They will be hoping the home advantage could be the advantage they need to cause an upset.

Bolton may look to former reds striker Emile Heskey to provide the firepower. Despite becoming well known for his lack of goals, he was once a prolific striker and is one of the few players to have scored over 100 premier league goals. He will be hoping to add to his tally against him former club.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers may however play some younger players in the game with one eye on the weekend match against local rivals Everton. Jordan Rossiter is likely to feature with the like of Steven Gerrard and Raheem Sterling likely to be rested in some capacity.

I do not expect Daniel Sturridge to feature. He has had a long injury lay off and you would think it would be unwise to risk him so soon after playing a part on Saturday.  The last thing Rodger’s and Liverpool need is for him to pick up another injury and he may be saved for the Merseyside derby.

This will likely be a tricky game for the Reds but they should feel confident following on from some good form. I expect Liverpool to win this one, with it being a low scoring game.
